In Memory of Stephen Schumacker

 

Stephen G. Schumacher (1942 - 2009) 

Stephen Schumacher, 67, died on Dec. 17, 2009. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1981 and worked for the Fort Walton Beach Post Office as a letter carrier for 24 years. Prior to moving to Fort Walton Beach, Stephen was in the Marine Corps Reserves, worked for Bekins Van Lines in Hillside, Ill., then for the St. Joe Paper Co. in Northlake, Ill. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 4559, the American Legion, the Elks Club, and St. Mary's Church. He liked to exercise, fish and travel but especially enjoyed his grandchildren since they always kept him laughing. Stephen liked to laugh and used to be the best joke teller. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and was a great friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his father, William A. Schumacher Sr., and his mother, Faye L. Schumacher. He is survived by his wife Patty of 41 years, his sons Michael (Charlene) and Joseph Schumacher, his grandchildren Samantha of Fort Walton Beach, Joshua and EllaGrace Schumacher of Shalimar, brother William A. Schumacher Jr. (Clare) of Fort Myers, Fla., sisters Susan (Ron) Hurst of Fort Walton Beach and Nancy (Dale) Piedlow of Crestview, nephew Paul Hurst of Crestview, niece Emmalee Piedlow of South Barrington, Ill., and brother-in-law Richard Kolar of Fort Walton Beach. Stephen will be sadly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the ladies from Magnolia Manor for bringing joy and laughter back to his life. We'd also like to thank Dr. Ouellette, Sharon, and Michelle for always being so kind.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach followed by a Requiem Mass to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. The family will have a private burial service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association at Alz.org or to the National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL, 60601.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home of Fort Walton Beach is entrusted with the arrangements.

 -  Judy Johnson passed away Sept 6, 2009 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease.

Betty White (1927 - 2010)

Betty Jane White's journey through life came to an end on Feb. 12, 2010. Her journey began in Westerville, Ohio, on Nov. 19, 1927, and led her to her husband, Charles M. White (deceased). With him she traveled the globe and finally settled in Fort Walton Beach.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and leaves behind three children, Charles, wife Kay; Sandra, partner Doyle; Kim Eric, wife Patricia. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all of them.
The families would like to thank the special ladies of Magnolia Manor, Valerie Anthony, Sara O'Neal, Christina and the many volunteers. We would also like to thank the nurses from Amedisys, especially Dana Rosser. Many thanks go out to the staff of Covenant Hospice who helped us to make her last days more comfortable.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to share their special memories of Betty. Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Rd., NE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with interment immediately following in Beal Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice or the
American Cancer Society .
